I have very little
information on these models which I believe used most of the last
remaining parts from the factory. A mix of both the R80GS and the R80G/S
with most mechanicals from the later machine, it was produced in limited
numbers. These models can be recognised by the blue frame and I'd guess
most of the specifications would be the same as the R80GS. R80GS Kalahari
August 1997 saw the launch of the R80GS Kalahari in South Africa - I'm
not certain but I think this was the only country in which it was sold
and I believe it is the same as the Basic but with the early 35 litre
Paris Dakar fuel tank. R80GS Basic
According to my information the R 80 GS Basic was
produced only in 1996 and was the ultimate model with the "old" air
cooled flathead, production number according to my information approx.
3000pcs. As you reported the model was sold only in white with a blue
frame, basic technical data as well as additional equipment like the R
80 GS. The most important distinction was the smaller tank (comes from
the old ST), the seat and the headlights. Thanks to Dominik Guggenberger
for this info.
If anyone has spec, details or photos the information would be useful
for inclusion. |
