P. Maratos's R51/3 that is believed to be an
experimental model - the owners words below.
I'm
sending pictures of a (non-restored yet) R51/3 that is a part of my
private collection, a bike that I intend to restore its mechanical
parts in the future. As you will remark is a very unusual series /3
so please note the completely different engine housing , the
electrical side front cover ,the 1/4 spherical cover above the engine,
and the pushrod hose matching. I believe is an experimental series 3,
and the only think I know (by rumors) is that are produced about 2 to
5 pcs with 500 and 600cc , and perhaps one with 350cc, in the late
'40s.
The
dynamo isn't exactly the same , as the battery regler has to be moved
completely under the stator-housing (not diagonaly-left where it
usualy is) because of the different form of the alloy-cover .
Unfortunately no further informations are available by Bmw-classic in
Munich, except if i give them the alloy-form number of the engine
housing , located behind the flywheel, so they can check if they find
the form - number in their archives... |
